Fibromiyalji Hastalarının Yaşam Kalitesini Değerlendirmede Kullanılan Ölçeklerin Karşılaştırılması

Year 2017, Volume: 22 Issue: 2, 85 - 94, 24.03.2017

Abstract

A Comparison of the Measuring Instruments to Assess Quality of Life in Patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Year 2017, Volume: 22 Issue: 2, 85 - 94, 24.03.2017

Abstract

Aim: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), a complex and multidimensional clinical
syndrome, disrupts quality of life because it causes many somatic and
psychological complaints.
The aim of
the study is to determine the scale that measures the quality of life of the
FMS patients in the shortest and most efficient way. The reliability and
validity of SF12, SF8 and SF6D forms will also be examined.

Materials
and Methods:
Fifty-nine FMS patients who were diagnosed at Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation Department of Medical Faculty in Düzce University, who accepted
to participate in the study and filled the questions were evaluated. The
quality of life of FMS patients was questioned with SF36, WHOQoLBreef,
QuickDush, SF12, SF8 and SF6D scales.

Results: The internal consistency and repeatebility
of the scales were found to be high by using of the obtained data. When the relationships
between SF36 scale scores and the scores obtained from the other 3 short forms
of SF scales were examined, the validity of SF12 and SF6D scales was found to
be better than SF8.

Discussion and
Conclusion:
As a result, when all calculations for validity and reliability are
evaluated, scales SF12 and SF6D in FMS can be used instead of SF36 in measuring
quality of life.
In all
sub-dimensions, SF8 was not as effective as SF12 and SF6D, and due to lack of
sub-dimension of mental health was not suitable for use in FMS.
