AKUT APANDİSİT’İN NADİR GÖRÜLEN BİR NEDENİ: ENTEROBİUS VERMİCULARİS

Year 2015, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 0 - 0, 01.06.2015

Abstract

ABSTRACT

Enterobius vermicularis (E. vermicularis) is a common parasite worldwide, settled in the appendiceal and cecum. 35-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department with sudden onset of right lower quadrant pain. Right iliac fossa tenderness on physical examination were present, no significant leukocytosis and laboratory findings. Pathological examination of patient who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy showed the presence of E. vermicularis in the appendix lumen. In this study, we presented an acute appendicitis case caused by E. vermicularis which is  one of the rare causes of appendicitis

Key words: Appendicitis, appendectomy, Enterobius vermicularis
