Akıllı Telefon ve Tablet Kullanım Süresinin Kısa Süreli Hafıza Performansına Etkisi

  • Amaç: Akıllı telefon ve tablet kullanımının kısa süreli hafızaya etkisini araştırmak. Gereç ve Yöntem:Çalışma İbrahim Hakkı Fen Lisesi öğrencileri arasında gönüllülük esasına göre seçilen ve onam formunu inceleyerek çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 200 öğrenciyi kapsamaktadır. Çalışma için öncelikle katılan öğrencilere uygun bir ortam sağlandıktan sonra kısa süreli hafıza testi uygulandı. Bu testin ardından çalışmaya katılan her öğrenciye günde kaç saat süre ile akıllı telefon-tablet kullandığı sorularak cevaplar standart bir forma işlendi. Bulgular:Çalışmada belirli saat aralıklarında akıllı telefon ve tablet kullanan ve akıllı telefon ve tablet kullanmayan öğrencilerin; yapılan kısa süreli hafıza testinde aldıkları puan değerleri karşılaştırıldığında, istatistiksel anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır (p>.05). Sonuç:Çalışmada akıllı telefon ve tablet kullanım süresinin kısa süreli hafıza performansını etkilemediği görülmüştür. Gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir.

The Effect of Smart Phone and Tablet Use on Short Term Memory Performance

 

Abstract (≤250 WORDS)

Objective: To investigate the effect of smart phone and tablet usage on short term memory performance. Material and Method:The study included 200 students who were selected on a voluntary basis among the İbrahim Hakkı Science High School students, who agreed to participate in the study by reviewing the consent form. After providing a suitable environment for the students participating in the study, short-term memory test was performed. Following this test, smart phone and tablet usage time was learned by asking how many hours a day they used smart phone or tablet to all students who participated in the study, and recorded in a standardized form. Findings:In the study, when short-term memory test scores of the students who were using smartphones and/or tablets in the specific time interval, and also the students who were not using any smart phone and/or tablet were compared, no statistically significant difference was found (p>.05). Conclusion:In the study, usage time of smart phone and/or tablet was found not to affect the short term memory performance. There were no significant differences between groups.
