A rare reason of pyometra: Appendix Carsinoid Tumor

Year 2016, Özel Sayı, 35 - 37, 01.06.2016

Abstract

Pyometra is the accumulation of purulent material in the uterine cavity and occurs because of conditions that interfere with the natural drainage of the uterus. The most common cause of pyometra is malignancy of genital tract. Appendiceal carcinoid tumors are usually an incidental finding in young patients undergoing surgery for suspected acute appendicitis. We aimed to present a case of pyometra resulting from carcinoid tumors of the appendix fistulized to the tuba uterina.

Pyometranın nadir nedeni: Apendiksin Karsinoid Tümörü

Year 2016, Özel Sayı, 35 - 37, 01.06.2016

Abstract

Piyometra uterin kavite içerisinde enfekte pürülan materyalin birikmesidir ve uterusun doğal drenajının bozulduğu durumlarda görülmektedir. En yaygın nedeni jinekolojik kanserlerdir. Apendiksin karsinoid tümörlerinde teşhis genellikle genç hastalarda akut apandisit tanısı ile yapılan apendektomilerde konulur. Biz bu olguda tuba uterinaya fistülize apendiksin karsinoid tümörü sonucu gelişen piyometra olgusunu sunmayı amaçladık.
