Batı Nil virüs enfeksiyonu

Abstract

Batı Nil Virüsü insanlar, atlar, kuşlar ve vahşi hayvanlarda çeşitli nörolojik semptomlara neden olan, artropotlarla bulaştığı için arbovirüs olarak adlandırılan virüs grubunda yer alan, günümüzde yeniden güncellik kazanmış olan sivrisinek kaynaklı bir RNA virüsüdür. Batı Nil Virüsü insan, köpek, at, kuş gibi çeşitli konak türlerinde özellikle santral sinir sistemini enfekte ederek hafif bir klinik tablodan menenjit, ensefalit veya ölüme kadar değişen ciddi nörolojik klinik tablolara yol açabilen geniş spektrumda bir hastalığa neden olabildiği için dünya çapında öneme sahiptir. Ülkemizde geçmiş yıllarda yapılan serolojk çalışmalarda bu virüsün varlığı insanlarda ve hayvanlarda gösterilmiştir. Ülkemizdeki ilk insan olguları 2010 yılında tanımlanmış olup bu derlemede Batı Nil Virüsü ile ilgili bilgilerin gözden geçirilerek sunulması amaçlanmıştır.
