Huzurevinde yaşayan yaşlılarda kuru göz sendromu semptom sıklığı ve etkileyen faktörler

Abstract

Giriş ve Amaç: Bu araştırma huzurevinde yaşayan yaşlıların kuru göz sendrom sıklığı ve etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini aynı şehirde bulunan iki farklı Huzurevi ile Yaşlı Bakımı ve Rehabilitasyon Merkezinde kalan yaşlılar (N:271), örneklemini ise Mini Mental testten 24 puan üzeri alan ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden yaşlılar (n:54) oluşturmuştur. Veriler, katılımcıların Sosyo-Demografik Soru Formu, Mini Mental Test ve McMonnies Kuru Göz Anketi kullanılarak Ocak 2019 - Mart 2019 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Verilerin istatistiksel analizi için SPSS 22.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı verilerde sayı, yüzde ve ortalama, ölçek puan ortalaması ile diğer değişkenler arasındaki farklılıkları belirlemek için ise Mann Whitney U testi ve Kruskall Wallis testleri yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 74.03±7.82 (Min:62 / Max:89), %31.5’i kadın, %38.9’u okur yazar değil, %92.6’sı kronik bir hastalığa sahip, %70.4’ü gözlük kullanan ve %38.9’u göz ameliyatı geçirmiştir. McMonnıes Kuru Göz ölçek puan ortalaması 11.27±7.23 (Min:2/Max:32) olup, kuru göz sendromuna ait semptomlarının görülme sıklığı ise %22.2 olarak belirlenmiştir. Kadın yaşlılarda, pasif içiciliğe maruz kalanlarda, antidepresan ilaç kullananlarda ve kornea ameliyatı geçirenlerde McMonnıes Kuru Göz genel ölçek ortalaması daha yüksek olup istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Sonuç: Araştırmamızın sonucunda huzurevinde yaşayan her 5 yaşlıdan 1’inde (%22.2) kuru göz sendromuna ait semptomların varlığı görülmüştür.
