Yoga Self-Efficacy Levels and Influencing Factors in Yoga Practitioners

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 137 - 146, 09.08.2022

Abstract

Objective: The descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with the aim of determining the yoga self-efficacy levels and influencing factors in yoga practitioners.
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted between 17 October 2021 and 31 January 2022 with 72 yoga practitioners in a yoga center. The data were collected using personal information form and Yoga Self-Efficacy Scale. Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, median, and quartiles), Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used to analyze the data.
Results: Median age of the participants was 34.5, most of them were female (76.4%) and had higher education (68.1%). In this study; practicing for less than an hour, being an advanced yoga practitioner, having a trainer certificate and giving yoga lessons significantly increase the total scale score and its subscale scores (p<0.05). On the other hand, socio-demographic characteristics of the participants such as age, gender and marital status did not make a significant difference in the total scale score and its subscale scores (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the results of the research; yoga self-efficacy, another yoga self-efficacy influencing factors and yoga-related injuries should be examined by subsequent researchers.

Yoga Yapan Bireylerin Yoga Öz-Etkililik Düzeyleri ve Etkileyen Faktörler

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 137 - 146, 09.08.2022
