PERIODONTAL SATUS AND ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES: CURRENT VIEWPOINT

Yıl 2022, Cilt: 3 Sayı: 3, 30 - 36, 30.12.2022

Öz

Many drugs have the potential to affect the periodontium. One of them is oral contraceptives. It is thought that this group of contraceptive drugs also adversely affects the clinical gingival status. In recent years, the periodontal effects of drugs with varying contents have been frequently discussed. Modern low-dose formulations have not received the same level of scrutiny for their potential effects on the periodontium as their high-dose oral contraceptive precursors. Therefore, this subject still arouses interest today.
The aim of this traditional review is to examine the possible relationship between periodontal status and oral contraceptives and current data.
